How to create a Zalo Official Account the right way

This guide from Lucid Gen shows you how to create a Zalo Official Account (Zalo OA) for your business, with sample content you can use to fill in your OA information. It also follows Zalo’s own documentation, so you can work through it on your own and save time. Let’s get started!

What is Zalo Official Account?

Just like the Facebook fan page, Zalo Official Account is a page that represents businesses, shops, artists, or other organizations. You create a Zalo OA from your personal Zalo account, but as of 10/2026 the OA must be verified with the business registration of a company or household business before you can use the full feature set such as messaging, posts and chatbots. Advanced features are paid by plan, which I cover at the end of this article.

Suitable products and services for Zalo OA

These days, everyone wants to sell on multiple channels, and Zalo is an obvious option. However, not every product or service works well on Zalo OA.

Any company or household business with a valid business license can create a Zalo Official Account. In practice, Zalo OA works well for products and services like these:

• Cosmetics & beauty products for men and women.
• Products for a middle-aged audience, since older people in Vietnam tend to use Zalo more than Facebook.
• Unique, hard-to-find products at affordable prices.

If your business is in a conditional business line, Zalo will ask for additional documents when you verify the OA, so prepare all the required licenses before you start.

How to create Zalo Official Account

Note: The screenshots below were taken in 2020. The current interface looks different, but the information you need to fill in is basically the same (10/2026). Also, only Vietnamese phone numbers (+84) with a verified personal Zalo account can create and manage an OA.

Step 1: Visit oa.zalo.me, click the Create Official Account button and scan the QR code with the Zalo app to sign in.

Step 2: Choose the Business account type.

Step 3: Select the subcategory that fits your products and services, then click Continue.

Step 4: Enter the information for your Zalo Official Account as follows:

• Official Account title: use a clear name, not a generic name or product keywords. Under the current rules, the OA name must be the company or household business name on the business registration, a trademark registered with the Intellectual Property Office of Vietnam, or the name of the product or service you sell. For example: Nafoods Store. If you do not follow this rule, verification will be difficult.
• Description: briefly explain what your Zalo Official Account is for. For example: Nafoods Store is a subsidiary of Nafoods Group. Nafoods Store sells fresh fruit and soft dried fruit to the domestic Vietnamese market.
• Contact name: your name.
• Contact phone: your phone number. It does not need to be the hotline of the Zalo Official Account.

Step 5: Add a cover photo and avatar for the Zalo Official Account and then click Continue.

• Profile picture: Use your brand logo as the profile picture (you can change anything after approval). Recommended size: 150×150. File size: no more than 1MB.
• Cover photo: Recommended size: 1024×533. File size: no more than 1MB.

Step 6: Enter the address for your Zalo Official Account and then click Finish.

Complete your Zalo Official Account information

Fill in more account information to improve your chances of approval. Click Manage in the top menu and select Account Information. Below is a screenshot of an OA I filled out, for your reference.

In the Account Information section, note the Official Account ID and Official Account Name. You will use them when submitting the approval request.

Also fill in the remaining details, including:

• Operating hours: your business hours.
• Hotline: doesn’t have to be your phone number, but it should be the same as the one on the website.
• Website: if you have a “decent” website, this is an advantage and makes approval easier.

The trick in this section is that all the information on your Zalo Official Account should match the information on your website.

Zalo Official Account verification and costs

After creating the OA, you need to submit verification documents within 14 days. Zalo offers 3 verification options: by the company or store name on the business registration, by a trademark protected by the Intellectual Property Office of Vietnam, or by another name (this option also covers conditional business lines). Zalo usually responds within 2 to 3 working days. See the official Zalo OA setup guide for details on each option.

If you do not have a business registration yet, you can only create an Ads profile. It can only be used to run ads on Zalo and has no messaging, posts, chatbot or calling features. Once you have a license, you can add it to turn the profile into a verified OA.

As for costs, a verified OA comes with a free Basic plan, and advanced features require a paid plan. I summarized this table from Zalo’s OA pricing page (10/2026). Prices include VAT:

On top of the plan fee, consultation messages sent outside the 48-hour window after the customer’s last message are charged per message. Zalo also sells 6-month plans if you want to try first. My advice is to start with the Basic plan and only upgrade when you really need a chatbot or several staff members handling chats, so you do not pay for features you do not use.

Once approved, visit oa.zalo.me/home and you will see your OA working like this.

If you have a complete business license, a decent website, and the website information matches your Zalo OA information, approval is usually faster.
