Prepare before use
Before using the Google Ads keyword grouping tool yourself, you need to prepare a little bit about keywords and change a little settings in Excel software. Follow my instructions.
Prepare keywords
The first thing we need to do is find a list of keywords. For example in this article I will take a list of keywords are iphone 7, iphone 8, iphone x to guide you.
Install Macros for Excel enabled
Since your tool uses Macros to implement it, you are required to do this before it works. Open excel software on your computer, click File in the upper-left corner.
Continue, you click Options in the lower-left corner.
The Excel Options window appears, you click Trust Center on the menu and click Trust Center Setings to install Macros.
Add a Trust Center window that appears, click Macro Settings on the menu on the left, and then select Enable all macros in the options table on the right. Then click OK below to save, if there are any tables on the screen you just click OK all.
Once we’ve installed Macros on, we’ll now go to the most anticipated section, which is to use the Google Ads keyword division tool.
Manual
Open the keyword grouping tool. Like many excel files downloaded from the internet, the first thing is to click on the Enable Editing button, then we can use it, otherwise just watch.
Paste in the keyword column you’ve prepared, your example is about iphone. Then I will enter group decision words such as 7 plus, 7, 8 plus, 8, x into the blue bar. Then click the Group button to divide the keyword group by the name of those columns.
Tip to keep in mind: you should prioritize long decision words on the left first. As I’m 7 plus and then 7, then the tool will choose the keyword for 7 plus first, then the remaining words will continue to divide by the following 7. If you do the opposite, 7 plus will have no words left because 7 has taken first.
Immediately, the tool will automatically divide the keyword at the speed of light (Wow… It’s like a miracle. Of course, there will be words that don’t fall into any group because it doesn’t contain the decisive word. Those words will stay on the Remain Keywords column, you can use it to put in a certain group or deny for example. The result is as shown below.
Let’s copy the results to a new Excel file to save. You can divide it even deeper, for example, you will divide it further by iphone x, just copy the iphone x column pasted into the Keywords column. I glanced at some words that can be used to divide such as 256, 64, old, portable, price. Continue filling in the green column and clicking the Group button to divide the keyword.
And this is the keyword result of the iphone x is divided deeper.
This is just a simple example of how to use the Google Ads keyword grouping tool for you to understand. For each industry, or each person will have different ways of dividing, please do it your way as long as you use the tool effectively.
